Chalmer is a 32-year Teamster, 8 years with Teamsters Local 110 where he served as steward and was on the negotiating committee for Teamster employees at Fleming Foods in Huntingdon, Pa.
He has been a member of Teamsters Local 776 for 24 years and is currently employed at ABF Freight System. Chalmer started as a dock worker at ABF in 1999 and became a road driver in 2002.  In 2015 he was voted in as a steward for the road drivers at ABF Freight. In 2023 he was selected to represent the rank and file at the ABF Freight Contract negotiations for the ABF National Agreement and the Central Pa Local Supplement.  He has been one of the drivers of the Local 776 truck several times for support of other Locals and disaster relief efforts.
